Mission #002: ComicCon Debriefing (1 of 2)

It's from EQD, go watch it.

A BIG summary of pony, game, comic, and sci-fi related events and incidents below, gents (and non-gents):

Check it out!

We might not be there in person, but when has a crippling shortage of information and resources kept a motivated military brony down? I say NEVER! Because: I've never heard of one, and therefore they do not exist!

So here is what we've learned from ComicCon, for starters:

Ponies:
  • The Great And Powerfull Trixie will return!!!!
  • A beutiful song was released, including Spike singing and dancing ballet.
  • Derpy will probably remain a background character for this show with no likely speaking roles for this season.
  • Luna is probably going to show up more this season.
  • If Twilight and Spike's song is any indication, the animation is at it's best yet!

Video Games: (all release dates are US)

Quick note: Check your Steam accounts. It's Steam's Summer Sale right now. So it's like a GameStop becoming a 99 cent store.

The Walking Dead:  You missed the chance to go through a zombie infestation with lots of zombie actors, fake blood, and  just a little bit of fog and mood lighting.

Assassin's Creed 3: Release date October 30

You take control of a character named: Connor Kenway (born Ratohnhaké:ton), as an American Indian during the begining of the American Revolution, and is generally indifferent to any political allegance during the crisis. The game will be different from previous titles by including moving hay carts that you can assasinate from, you will be actively climbing trees in and out of cities, naval battles will occour and will not be relegated to singular scripted events (meaning you can also sail around the coast of New England), and there will be full fledged weather effects including snow, rain, and a day and night cycle.

Also included will be the cities of Boston and New York (circa 1776) in their entirety and a frontier area larger than the city of Rome was in the previous AC game. The game *might* include Co-Op play, but it will not have a multiplayer beta nor any scalping. Their will be a Wolfpack mode in the game that will allow players to assassinate a number of hidden targets with a time limit and no interference from civilians.

Hitman Absolution: Release date November 20

Everyone knows that Agent 47 trained Fluttershy on neck snapping techniques for "Lesson Zero". What is new, is that in Absolution Agent 47 has left the organization he used to work for and now can use a mode called "instinct" to locate multiple enemies through walls and pull off mass slow motion head shots. This will be utilized through some form of in-game currency or point system. Also, he appears to have misplaced his tie.

Halo 4: Release date November 6

All the Halo you know and love, plus some new enemies, a "spartan ops" mode, and a $400 console that legitimately looks bucking swee.

Resident Evil 6:  Release date: October 2nd

The things that are new with Resi are as follows: Laser sights replaced with a reticule and laser sight (that isn't visible in the air), shooting while moving occurs, the camera now has an adjustable speed, there are three different main campaigns, and Leon will be able to use two hand guns at a time for a special attack.

Also, you can earn skill points as you go through the game and invest them into "skills" that will give your character unique bonuses, like health. Counters were also added to the game to allow the player to fight back against a zombie that grabs them, or disarm a zombie that has a weapon. Additionally, if for some reason, your AI partner is not responding you your instructions, you will be able to press a button and briefly switch to their view to find out what's happening to them.

Sleeping Dogs: Release date: August 14

This is an open world action game set in present day Hong Kong. It's looks very good, and seems to have a distinct flair for violence, gun play, and explosions. Also, its melee system seems to be molded off of the Batman franchise, so the fighting will probably be smoother than GTA 4 was.

Injustice: Gods Among Us: Release date: TBA 2013

Injustice appears to be a superhero fighting game set in an alternate DC universe where all your favorite superheros might just be jerks. Hawkman will not be in this game, because Ed Boon, co-creator of Mortal Kombat, and Creative Director of NetherRealm Studios, (making this game) has a problem with him. Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, The Flash, Cyborg, Harley Quinn, and Nightwing will though. Think of it as an improved version of MK v. DC that they did before. Ed Boon also seems to want to emphasize this games environmental pieces and that the fight can change to different arenas with no environmental weapons at certain points and times. He also wants to emphasize that the game should be well balanced between all the characters.

Miscellaneous:

The Batmobile (from Batman Forever), KAT, and all of the Iorn Man suits of armor were on display. Guillermo del Toro loved making his new film "Pacific Rim" where 250 ft. monsters fight 250 ft. robots. He would also like to make Hellboy 3 if he could. There is a $180 collector's set of the Avengers Assemble movies. It includes every movie of all the Avengers, sketches, a "Who is Iron Man" newspaper, and a bunch of cool stuff that Marvel fans would probably be into.

Also, Orlado Bloom was promoting his new cartoon on Adult Swim called "Black Dynamite", which is based off of the movie of the same name. Which means it should both be action packed and freaking hilarious. One of the animators of the Boondocks is basically running the show, and the original film was a spoof of 1970's "Blaxplotation" films. Basically it is an action comedy about a 'Shaft-like' African-american police detective, struggling to clean up the streets of drug dealers and other general menaces.

There were several Marvel and DC comics panels that occurred, but I'll be honest. I haven't paid much attention to comics in a long time, and those of you that do would be insulted by my ignorance if I tried to tell you things, so just go to the Comic Vine source at the bottom if you want to check them out.

Just as an idea: Batman is my favorite superhero, and I had never heard of "Year One" until the costume was a DLC on Arkham City.

Okay guys, school-circle:

A proper military 'school-circle' AKA 'sit-kneel-bend'

This is the intel so far. If your there, send us your experiences. If your not, mention stuff in the comments about things you want to hear about, and what you don't care about. Or you can utilize the forum. You'll notice most of this isn't pony related, and that's okay. FOB Equestria can be a starting point for you guys to get involved or talking about things that interest you. Kinda like public television: we can do it without your input. Maybe some people think that we're a little ambitious for being a website that's a week old. Screw those guys! The more you give, the more you get.

SEMPER FILLY!
