For 2013, Everfree Northwest is proud to be the literary hub of the pony convention circuit! Come and join our all-star cast of fan authors, editors, and pre-readers and share in the magic of the written word. What better way to celebrate the high-quality writing of Friendship is Magic than with an in-depth study of how to make your writing the best that it can be?
Everfree Northwest has over a dozen various panels and events all related to writing, authors, and fanfiction at this year’s convention. Every year, our writing track lead Silver Quill assembles a suite of fan panelists to talk about plot, character development, setting, literary merit, and advanced literary techniques to help turn your stories into art. Fancy yourself a writer? Then come participate in our two-part Iron Author competition and see if you've got what it takes to turn out two thousand words in two hours! We've also got experts to talk about what it takes to hit the FIMFiction Feature Box, and a bank of pre-readers from Equestria Daily to talk about what they're looking for in a good story. Come and see an early screening of the MLP Fan Fiction Documentary, followed by a Q&A where you can provide direct feedback on the project. Or if you just want to hang out with your favorite fan fiction authors, join us for the authors and fans chill out event and relax with your favorite wordsmiths..
This year, our line-up of fan talent includes:
Silver Quill: Silver Quill wrote her first novella at age eight and hasn't stopped writing since. In addition to her pony fic, she's the author of three novels and has published a number of short stories as well. When not making words happen, she can usually be found at some convention or another talking about making words happen with others.
Pen Stroke: Over his two years as an author for the fandom, Pen Stroke has written over a dozen stories for the MLP community. With his body of work including popular stories such as “Past Sins,” “Better Living Through Science and Ponies,” “Haunting Nightmare,” and the “Moonshine Series,” he has earned his place as the most watched author on FIMFiction.net.
PK: The man. The mystery. Just who this is mysterious man? Well, now's your chance to find out: PK, whose name does not in fact stand for anything, is the author of “Antipodes,” “Lodestone,” and is Equestria Daily's pet and its on-again off-again stuff-writer.
Couch Crusader : CouchCrusader, in his own words, is the product of a cosmic belch and existential confusion horrified into being. He won his name in 2011 over eighty-seven non-consecutive days of summer sofa surfing. Semi-victorious, he is a pre-reader and part-time columnist for Equestria Daily and is best known for writing "Wingmares" and "Via Equestria."
Seattle Lite: Seattle enjoys stalking bad OCs by moonlight and appearing directly behind you. He’s a triple threat, the author of such fics as “Moving On “and “Divergence,” Equestria Daily pre-reader team, and FIMFiction mod all rolled into one cool package.
Horizon: Horizon is a fanfic author best known for the Equestria Daily/Vault-featured story “Fugue State” – a romance about mind control and musical numbers. Returning attendees might also recall “No Regrets” from the 2012 conbook. With decades of writing and professional editing experience, his panels are sure to be informative! He lives (with cats, of course... you can't be a famous author without cats) in a strange land whose name ends in "-ia".
Piquo Pie: Piquo Pie is a pre-reader for stories such as “Cry for Eternity” and “Under A Luminous Sky” and the author of several fics of his own, most notably comedies such as “And Then Rainbow Dash Was a Colt, and Ten Other Really Awkward Stories” as well as “T, the Tiniest Troll” which was recently translated into Russian. He is also working on the MLP Fan Fiction Documentary 2013 which will take a look at 6 individuals from the MLP Fan Fiction community and will tell their individual stories about being a fanfiction author.
Meeester: An avid proofreader and pre-reader for an extensive list of authors, Meeester has worked with authors on stories across the entire spectrum of tags and categories and loved every one of them. He also helps authors as a Story Approver/Mod on FimFiction.net, where he is one of a select few users who approve or fail the over 2000 stories submitted to FimFic each month.
Skywriter: Skywriter is otherwise known as author and cartoon scriptwriter Jeffrey C. Wells. He is best known in Pony circles for his short stories "Princess Celestia Hates Tea," "How to Remove a Unicorn Tooth," and "Derplicity," as well as the episodic novel "Contraptionology!" He finds that My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has expanded both his artistic and friendship horizons, but would just like to point out that he was into rainbows and unicorns before they were cool.
S. R. Foxley: A recovering work-a-holic with a foxy personality, S.R. Foxley has been writing stories here and there for over a decade. He is best known as the author of “Excerpts from a Filthy Diary.”
totallynotabrony: Totallynotabrony began his pony career with the story "Battleships are Magic." Fueled by a 2000-word-per-day writing habit, he has since followed up with more than sixty stories including military dramas, crack comedies, horror, and awkward human inserts. His favorite character is vampire Cheerilee.
Who doesn’t like a good game from time to time? We have no idea! That’s why Everfree Northwest is delighted to announce the following gaming events and guests.
- Crystal Games Challenge -
The Gaming Colts will be hosting their very first game jam—Crystal Games Challenge—in conjunction with Everfree Northwest in order to support and nurture the practice of game development within the My Little Pony fandom.
For those unfamiliar with the term ‘game jam’, a game jam is an event where people come together and make a video game or non-digital game like a board or card game. Participants rapidly prototype games and game designs. Everyone involved shares a common theme as well as restrictions with a centralized goal. Developers are asked to create a game from beginning to end in a predetermined amount of time (maximum of 48 hours). While brief, the short time span helps encourage creative thinking resulting in small but innovative and experimental games. Such exercises help introduce new ideas into the gaming industry and help game makers new and old hone their skills.
The event will begin on June 22nd at noon Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) and end on June 24th at noon PDT. All are welcome to join in. The challenge will be run online with details being passed out by the Gaming Colts on their website, Facebook, and Twitter. Then, working with the Everfree Northwest Gaming Division, The Gaming Colts will showcase many of the submissions from the game jam in the convention’s Game Room during the con.

Legends of Equestria: A massively multiplayer online role-playing game centered in the land of Equestria, Legends of Equestria is a place where you can play as your very own custom pony, questing and going on adventures with your friends! You’ll be able to fly around, use magic, raise a pet, grow crops, and a whole host of other fun activities. The Legends of Equestria team will be giving a panel presentation going over the ins and outs of their game, so join us and find out all there is to know about this exciting project. On top of their panel, the Legends of Equestria team will also give convention attendees an opportunity to play the game in a pre-alpha state, with convention-specific quests!

My Little Investigations: What do you get when you cross My Little Pony and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney? You get My Little Investigations! Join Twilight Sparkle as she investigates crime scenes for evidence, questions and interrogates ponies, and ultimately confronts the culprit. The developers behind My Little Investigations will be holding a panel, talking to and taking questions from fans about all things MLI. Hear from them what it was like developing for the first case and what their thoughts are on the future of the game—and you can expect some teasers for case 2 as well. MLI fans won't want to miss it, and newcomers to the game are welcome too!

Bluescreen Bronies: In a community exploding with talented developers, the Bluescreen Bronies play, review and critique the games these creators design, along with other games popular with the Brony crowd. Part of the Everfree Network line-up, they present the latest in gaming news and game review each week. Join them as they host community game developers for theGames that Ponies Play: Making Games that Players Enjoy panel as they explore the in’s and outs of game creation from start to finish.

The Gaming Colts: The Gaming Colts are a new group of Bronies dedicated to promoting the development of games by Bronies. They work to support all games created by Bronies and to nurture the community’s creative talent for game design and creation. Before Everfree Northwest, they will host the Crystal Games Challenge, a game jam to promote game development within the Brony community. Come see the games that are created during the jam in our Game Room, where the Gaming Colts will work with Everfree Northwest’s Gaming Division to showcase many of those creations.

My Little Pony: Roleplaying Is Magic: My Little Pony: Roleplaying is Magic is a pen & paper tabletop RPG that aims to provide a truly unique and fun pen & paper roleplaying experience. Based on freeform roleplaying and concepts from such systems as Dungeons & Dragons, World of Darkness, Mythic, and others, the system is light on strict rules and focuses more on a player’s ability to weave a collaborative tale with narrative-focused mechanics. The project lead and creator of the game, Tall Tail, will be in our Board Game Room on Friday and Saturday. Join in the fun and look for a game or start your own. Come and tell a story with us.
Back by popular demand, Everfree Northwest is proud to present Ponystock 2013! The definitive pony concert that rocked Seattle last August is back once more with 20 new and returning musicians and loads of great music. Come and experience the concert everypony was talking about. Our lineup features some of the biggest names in the fandom playing music of all types, from rock and folk instrumental sets to crazy remixes and electronic tracks. Catch our all-star guests live in concert every night of the convention! You won't want to miss this!
In addition, this year Everfree Northwest is bringing you three all-new music panels. Each panel will feature special guests and has its focus on one distinct area of music: Acoustic, Orchestral, and a third to be announced. Keep your eyes peeled and your ears perked for more to come.

Alex S: Hailing from the Old Dominion state, Alex S. is known as one of the fandom's first major music producers. This 21-year-old musician is well-known for his upbeat electronic tracks, among which "Party with Pinkie" and "Ultimate Sweetie Belle" are fan favorites. Mic The Microphone: Making his primary in rapping, Mic The Microphone has been involved with the fandom since 2011, working with such names as Glaze, The Living Tombstone, and even folks from the show such as William Anderson and Daniel Ingram on non-pony related projects. Looking to branch out and improve, Mic has since been studying composition and the like in order to expand his knowledge of music as a whole. YouTube
Michael A: Michael A. has been making music for the fandom for years, with no intention to stop! His musical style takes influence from major hands up, dance, trance, and house artists, and more recently he's been dabbling with bass-oriented music and non 4-on-the-floor type music. Michael A. is best known for his early work such as "I Need That" and "Twilight's Madness," but has had his music featured in various documentaries as well as well-known youtube channels. [voodoopony]: Voodeedoo, aka [voodoopony], has been active since the summer of 2011. His albums "Beyond Equestria" and "Nightmare in Ponyville" established him as a prominent and influential figure in the community. Notable for his musical diversity and artistic coherence, expect to hear styles ranging from hip hop to drum and bass at this year's Everfree Northwest.YouTube/Bandcamp
Donn DeVore: Donn DeVore, aka Ponydonn, composes music in various styles ranging from rock to EDM to orchestral to alternative folk. In December 2012 he released an album featuring original music and pony covers entitled 'A Year in Equestria’ and will be performing on the Musiquestria Tour. Poni1Kenobi: Poni1Kenobi, aka P1K, is an Alternative/Punk Rock musician with a style reminiscent of bands like Relient K and Blink-182. He's probably most known for his songs "The Party Hasn't Ended" and "Melody on my Heartstrings." FraGmenTD: FraGmenTd is a spastic musician and composer whose music ranges from various electronic styles, to rock, to chiptune and everything in between that suits his fancy at the time. Best known for his Pinkie Pie-themed dance tune "Balloons In My Basket," this will be his second appearance at Everfree NW. Derpidety: Derpidety is an Indie Rock/Electronica producer and musician, known for his guitar compositions “Dash's Empty Sky," "DreamShy," and "Azure," as well as his collaboration with Whitetail under the name Stargazers. Experienced in guitar, drums, bass, piano, and analog synthesizers, he composes a wide variety of pieces inspired by the likes of Explosions in the Sky, Bloc Party, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, and Modest Mouse. ThatSonOfAMitch: ThatSonofaMitch is an EDM artist whose range extends from dubstep to pop and everything in between and more. He is most known for his songs under the Unsung Stories EP: Harvest of Dreams and “First Night Alone.” He really loves his fruit. YouTube/Soundcloud
ArtAttack: ArtAttack is a 17 year old bass music producer from western Wisconsin. His tracks "Still Shy" and "Twistrike," as well as various remixes and singles, have gained him popularity in the brony fandom through catchy synth/vocal hooks and huge drops, as well as support by fellow artists such as Silva Hound and Assertive Fluttershy. BronyMike: A very silly guy, BronyMike is most known for his voiceover work, PMVs way back in season 1, and his affinity for the kazoo. His largest project has been his series of vocal covers, an ongoing effort to record his own renditions of every FiM-related song he can get his hands on the instrumentals for. HeyLasFas: A musician whose lengthy tracks are rivaled only by the length of his hair, HeyLasFas is a talented progressive industrial alternative rocker who enjoys shooting marshmallows into the audience. F3nning: Known for his countless remixes of songs from FiM, F3nning has become one of the fandom's most prolific musicians. His dubstep and hip-hop remixes of favorite songs from the show like "Winter Wrap Up" and "Hush Now, Quiet Now" have been very well-received, and his work has become nearly ubiquitous in the fan community. Metajoker: Metajoker entered the pony scene with more than ten years of musical expertise under his belt. Specializing in piano, he has become known for his thought-evoking songs, which include both collaborations with artists like ArtAttack and Taps as well as originals such as "A Lunar Lament." YouTube
Replacer: Replacer is a musician with a life-long interest in music. In tracks like "Song for an Earth Pony" and "You Know Where to Find Me," you can expect to find clever use of traditional instrumentation with a bit of electronic flair. Ibeabronyrapper: A rapper become brony, Ibeabronyrapper was introduced to the fandom about a year after the show aired and became completely enamored by it. Known for raps like "Evil Enchantress," he has become an integral part of the pony music community and isn't afraid to show it. YouTube
Odyssey: One of the most prolific musicians in the fandom, Odyssey is known for his upbeat Eurobeat tracks and albums. His work includes songs like "Luna" and, perhaps one of the most well-known songs in the entire community, "Discord." Odyssey is back at Everfree again for an assuredly epic performance. Silva Hound: Silva Hound is known for his intense house tracks, including remixes of both show and fan works. Over two years of experience in the fandom and plenty of collaborations are a testament to his achievements. MandoPony: Known for his energetic rock songs and countless collaborations with dozens of artists, Andrew Stein, AKA MandoPony, has rocked the stage with countless hits, including such titles as “Picture Perfect Pony” and “Loyalty.” One half of the incredible duo that is Acoustic Mando Brony, Andrew and his crew are sure to tear up the stage wherever they go.YouTube/Bandcamp
Acoustic Brony: Acoustic Brony is comprised of two individuals: Edd and Jimmy. Known for their signature acoustic tone, Acoustic Brony has since come out with dozens of hits, including their follow up to their hit song “Loyalty,” “Kindness.” Hailing all the way from the UK, this dynamic duo is ready to drop in and show the states what it means to rock. Michelle Creber: You all know her as the speaking voice of Apple Bloom and you’ve heard her sweet sounds as the singing voice of Sweetie Belle. Michelle Creber is a world-class singer, dancer, and actor, whose fame extends throughout ponydom and beyond, with credits in such works as Smart Cookies, Martha Speaks, and Dinosaur Train. At Everfree NW last year Michelle debuted her album Timeless: Songs of a Century, which covered songs from several eras throughout the 1900s.
